Against Babylon Part 2

Jeremiah 50:1 The word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet.

‘The word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet …’ 130 Predictions are fulfilled (continues): They will come against her from the utmost borders (50:26). They will open her storehouses. They will cast her up as heaps. They will destroy her utterly and leave nothing of her. Her bullocks will be slain (50:27). Her day of visitation will come. Men will escape from Babylon and declare in Zion the vengeance of God upon her (50:28). Archers will camp against Babylon round about so that none will escape. She will reap what she has sown, for she has been proud against God (50:29). Her young men will fall in the streets (50:30). Her men of war will be cut off in that day. The day will come when I will visit you for your pride. The most proud will stumble and fall (50:32). None will raise him up. I will kindle a fire in his cities and it will devour all round about him. The Redeemer (of both houses of Israel) is strong and will plead their own land again, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon (50:34). A sword will be upon the Chaldeans, upon the inhabitants, the princes, wise men, liars, mighty men, horses, chariots, the mingled people, the women, and the treasures of Babylon (50:35-37). The people will be dismayed (50:36). The treasures of Babylon will be robbed (50:37). There will be a drought in Babylon, for the waters will be dried up (50:38). A people will come upon Babylon from the north, a great nation, and many kings will be raised up from the coasts of the earth (50:41). They will hold the bow and lance (50:42). They will be cruel and without mercy. Their voice will be like the roar of the sea. They will ride upon horses, every one in an array, to battle you. The king of Babylon will hear of the report of them, and his hand will wax feeble (50:43; Dan. 5:1-31). Anguish will take hold of him as a woman in travail (50:43). He will come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan (50:44). The conquest will be quickly over and the invader will suddenly pass on. He will make their habitation desolate (50:45). The earth will be moved at the taking of Babylon (50:46). The cry will be heard among the nations.
